Alert | DEFENDERS AND PRETENDERS

"Alert" is the second sermon in this series. Jude shows himself to be a good preacher in his letter as he outlines a case against the false teachers in the church using scripture, illustration, and application. His warnings to the church then ring true for the church today. We learn from scripture our susceptibility to live for ourselves instead of Christ and we must guard against those who do so.

Contend | DEFENDERS AND PRETENDERS

Jude opens his letter by compelling Christians to contend for the faith that has been given to them by God. Jude writes to those in the church and only leaves two options for them: they are either defenders of the faith or pretenders of the faith.

Result | DEPTHS OF GRACE

Result is the sixth and final week of this series. As the story of Jonah concludes, we see the Lord’s dealing with the prophet himself. God has shown grace to Nineveh and He continues to show grace to Jonah, although it is not quite pleasurable to him. God teaches Jonah a valuable lesson and that lesson has implications for all of us.

Repentance | DEPTHS OF GRACE

Repentance is the fifth week of this series. Repentance is a changing of the mind. As Jonah’s message reaches the King of Nineveh, his repentance results in a city-wide revival. When we understand our sin, our sorrow leads to change. That change can be contagious and inspire others to repent as well.

Realization | DEPTHS OF GRACE

Realization is the third week of this series. As Jonah now sits in the belly of a fish, he has come to the realization that he is helpless. In Jonah’s distress he cries out to God. It is when this reluctant Missionary remembers His God, that Jonah sees the Lord speak. There is no mistake of what God is telling Jonah.

Reaction | DEPTHS OF GRACE

Reaction is the second week of this series. Jonah boarded a ship full of pagan sailors who knew nothing of the one true God. Instead of sharing with them, Jonah isolated himself from them. God’s storm leads to a confrontation that reveals the true God and His grace...and leaves Jonah in the belly of a fish.

Rebellion | DEPTHS OF GRACE

Rebellion is the first week of this series. The Book of Jonah opens with a description of Jonah’s rebellion. He refuses to follow God’s direction and becomes the only prophet that we know of to literally run away from God. Our rebellion leads our God to pursue us with his depths of grace.
