The gospel @ home

Hey parents! Welcome to the New Heights Kids blog! Our purpose here is to keep you in the loop with what your kids are learning each week. We hope you find it a useful tool in sharing the gospel at home!

As we continue our series on the fruit of the Spirit, we looked at the third fruit in Galatians 5:22- peace. Our kids discussed when we worry, we are thinking about ourselves or our problems instead of God and his power over the situation. We have peace by giving our worries or troubles to God because he is always with us and in control.

Read Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”

This week, you’ll need a half full glass of water and some vegetable oil. Tell your kids the water represents trusting God with our lives. The oil represents our worries. Pour some oil into the cup of water. At first, the two will seem to have mixed, but the oil will separate and rest on top of the water. Tell your kids that we cannot fully trust God to take care of our situations and worry about them at the same time. Trust and worry do not mix. We have to fully trust God in all situations!

Glorify. Grow. Go.
